The Little Earth Residents Association is expanding its urban farming program to year-round operations through construction of an indoor urban farming facility, The proposed use includes a one-story building primarily used as a greenhouse for indoor farming using advanced hydroponics and aquaponics to grow produce, traditional medicine, and fish for consumption by Little Earth residents. The proposed will expand LERA’s existing, successful outdoor, seasonal urban farming program that targets food insecurity, preserves Indigenous medical practices, to provide programs for Little Earth residents teaching healthy cooking, healthy eating, healthy living, entrepreneurship, and physical exercise through farming and gardening.
